This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist with inpatient experience who is passionate about improving outcomes for adults in crisis.

Salary: Up to £165k dependant on experience

Position: Consultant Psychiatrist

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Setting: Acute inpatient – mixed-gender, trauma-informed service

Location: Clacton On Sea, Essex

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Acting as Responsible Clinician (RC) for a mixed-gender inpatient service
  • Managing admission, treatment, and discharge in line with the Mental Health Act
  • Leading the Care Programme Approach (CPA) and Internal Case Review (ICR) processes
  • Supporting the delivery of NICE guidance and ensuring high clinical standards
  • Working alongside a Lead Consultant Psychiatrist and junior doctors
  • Supporting clinical governance and contributing to continuous service improvement
  • Participating in the Consultant on-call rota

For this role, we're looking for someone who has:

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Consultant-level experience in adult inpatient psychiatry
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility)
  • Sound knowledge of current legislation, NICE guidance, and change management
