Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced forensic psychiatrist to lead secure mental health services, providing strategic clinical leadership and recovery-focused care for individuals within the criminal justice system.
Salary: Up to £170,000
Position: Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist
Hours: Full Time
Setting: Medium and Low Secure Forensic Services
Location: South Wales, NP13
Responsibilities:
- Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
- Lead psychiatric assessments, formulations and treatment planning
- Provide specialist reports for tribunals, courts and Ministry of Justice
- Offer expert advice to probation, prisons and MAPPA
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated forensic care
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
- Support service development and supervise junior medical staff
Qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent with full GMC registration
- CCT or CESR in Psychiatry and MRCPsych
- Approved Clinician status under Section 12 MHA
- Minimum five years’ postgraduate psychiatric experience, with 2 in forensic/secure
- Significant experience within forensic mental health settings
