Position: Welding & Joining Technology Instructor

Location: Walton Campus

Department: Division of Business, Industry, & Technology

Reports to: Welding and Joining Technology Program Chair & Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, instruct students in welding and joining technology skill areas.
• Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
• Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Requests and maintains supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests.
• Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Responds in a timely manner to administrative requests.
• Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
• Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Demonstrates strong time management and organization skills.
• Demonstrates effective written and oral communication.
• Contributes to the writing of accreditation and assessment reports.
• Demonstrates general computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma in Welding & Joining Technology from an accredited college or technical institution.
• Three (3) years’ work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology.
• Blueprint reading capabilities.
• Experience with gas-metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
• Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited college or technical institution.
• Three (3) – seven (7) years of work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology, including work experience in pipe welding.
• Experience with fluxed-core arc welding, oxy-fuel cutting, pipe welding, plasma arc cutting and carbon arc gouging.
• American Welding Society Certification.
• Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
• Previous online teaching or training experience, including the use of video capture tools.
