We are currently recruiting for Care Assistants for our clients Care Home in East Kilbride, Glasgow. The home is a large, well graded service and provides nursing care and support for people with a range of physical and cognitive impairments. The aim of the service is to improve the overall quality of life for all residents by achieving the highest possible level of physical, psychological and social functioning.
The Care Assistant Role
- You will work within the care team to ensure the residents are cared for appropriately.
- Duties include:
- Promoting as full a life as possible for each resident
- Organising activities to keep the residents engaged
- Assisting with serving/preparation of meals, drinks and clearing up afterwards
- Supporting the Nurse on duty, Physiotherapist or Chiropodist when required
- Reporting any changes in residents' condition to the Nurse on Duty
- Report any incidents within the home to ensure they are recorded in the incident book
- Care for residents property and belongings in the home as directed
- Ensure any equipment is maintained and report defects to a Manager
- Accompany residents to activities out with the Home when required
- Support with personal care
- Clean up any spillages as they occur using the correct equipment as specified in the Control of Infection Policy
- To assist with other duties as and when required
Care Assistant - Requirements
- Ideally working towards or hold an SVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care however candidates without formal care qualifications or experience will be considered if they can demonstrate a genuine desire to work in care.
- An Understanding of National Care Standards and Codes of Conduct
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Have a passion to deliver high levels of care at all times.
- SSSC Registration or willingness to register within the specified timescale.
- Able to obtain a clear PVG and provide references prior to commencement in the role.
