Purpose: Reporting to the AVP, this position is responsible for the management of existing client relationships as well as supporting business development initiatives. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of insurance liabilities as well as possess both strong quantitative and communication skills.
Accountabilities:
- Ongoing management of third-party reinsurance including discussions on industry trends, rate setting and other new business opportunities
- Research and analyze potential new markets, companies and products for reinsurance opportunities
- Work with primary deal leads and pricing team to analyze due diligence materials, create pricing models and produce indicative quotes and management materials
- Provide support for all phases of a transaction process, including initial target identification, transaction structuring, contract negotiation, closing and post-close management
- Support flow reinsurance efforts, including participating in meetings with potential clients to understand reinsurance needs and discuss potential solutions
- Lead the production of product and treaty summaries for new transactions, highlighting key actuarial, reporting and operational agreements
- Assist with any other department projects as required
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or any quantitative field with either a Fellow qualification of a widely recognized actuarial body or a CFA designation
- Minimum six years’ experience in either the life insurance/reinsurance industry or investment banking, with strong expertise in the financial services/insurance sector
- Solid understanding of insurance liabilities with knowledge of fixed rate and indexed annuities
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills including prior experience in a client-facing or consulting role with ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Experience using AI tools (such as ChatGPT or similar platforms) to enhance productivity, analyze information, or streamline processes preferred
- Excellent oral and written English language skills
