We are now looking for an inspirational Home Manager to lead Alex Wood House Care Home in Arbury, Cambridge – someone who will live and breathe our values, and ensure our home is a place where residents, families, and colleagues all feel a true sense of belonging.

About Alex Wood House Care Home: Alex Wood House is an exceptional residential home with a strong family feel. With 36 en-suite bedrooms, inviting communal spaces, and beautiful gardens, the home offers 24-hour residential care in a warm and welcoming environment. Located in a peaceful nook of Arbury, just three miles from Cambridge city centre, Alex Wood House has built a reputation for its caring team and supportive community. Here, residents are at the heart of every decision, and every day is about making meaningful moments together.

Hours: Core hours are 9am to 5pm, but the ideal candidate should be flexible to be available across a full rota.

Location: Fortescue Road, Cambridge, CB4 2JS – just 3 miles from the city centre.

About the Role: As Home Manager, you will:

  • Support and grow your team – recruiting, developing, and nurturing colleagues across care, clinical, hospitality and activities so they feel valued, supported, and proud of their work.
  • Aim for excellence – driving high standards across the home and striving to achieve 'Outstanding' ratings within the CQC framework.
  • Balance care with sustainability – managing budgets responsibly, ensuring resources are used wisely while never compromising on quality.

What We're Looking For: A strong, values-driven Home Manager with experience delivering high-quality outcomes within a care home setting and leading motivated, high-performing teams. Applications are also welcomed from ambitious and capable Deputy Managers who are ready to take the next step into a Home Manager position. Experience of working in partnership with local healthcare professionals, with confidence in networking with local businesses and building strong community engagement. Someone who understands that care is about people first, bringing empathy, warmth, resilience, and a person-centred approach to every challenge. Strong organisational and leadership skills, ideally supported by a Registered Managers Award, ILM Level 5 in Management, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates working towards these qualifications, or Deputy Managers with demonstrable leadership capability, will also be considered.
