Job Summary

Athena Technology Group (ATG) is seeking a highly skilled Citrix Systems Administrator to support a mission-critical U.

Navy enterprise application environment in Norfolk, Virginia.

The selected candidate will serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing a large-scale Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environment supporting more than 1,500 active user sessions daily.

The environment includes web-based applications hosted within a secure AWS cloud architecture and directly supports operational readiness across major naval maintenance facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Citrix technologies, Windows Server administration, Power Shell automation, cybersecurity compliance, and enterprise troubleshooting within highly available production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, optimize, maintain, and upgrade Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environments, including versions 1912, 2402, and 2507.
  • Support and maintain AWS-hosted infrastructure components supporting Citrix application delivery services.
  • Perform Tier III troubleshooting of complex Citrix infrastructure issues, including session launch failures, profile management issues, authentication problems, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Administer and optimize Citrix Delivery Controllers (DDC), Store Front, Workspace Environment Management (WEM), and Virtual Delivery Agents (VDA).
  • Monitor system health, capacity, performance, and availability while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute Power Shell scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), vulnerability remediation requirements, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Support vulnerability scanning activities and implement corrective actions to mitigate identified security risks.
  • Manage incident, problem, knowledge, and change management activities using Service Now.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24x7x365 mission-critical environment.
  • Represent the engineering team during critical incident bridge calls with government stakeholders and end users.
  • Conduct system performance analysis and provide recommendations for upgrades, enhancements, and configuration changes.
  • Develop system administration procedures, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior system administrators as required.
  • Support infrastructure modernization initiatives and continuous service improvement efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of mission requirements.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (Do D), Department of the Navy (DON), or other federal government environments.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise systems administration concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • U. S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required. An active Interim Secret clearance is acceptable for onboarding.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Norfolk, VA and be available for 100% onsite support.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain compliance with Do D 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program (CWQP) requirements within six (6) months of hire.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server operating systems and enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience utilizing Service Now or comparable IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desired Qualifications
  • Four (4) or more years of direct hands-on experience administering Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environments.
  • Experience supporting Citrix Delivery Controllers (DDC), Store Front, Workspace Environment Management (WEM), and Virtual Delivery Agents (VDA).
  • Advanced Power Shell scripting experience for automation, systems management, and operational support.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Citrix session launch sequences, authentication flows, and network pathing issues.
  • Experience supporting production workloads within Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, VPC, S3, and IAM.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and STIG implementation.
  • Previous experience supporting U. S. Navy programs or military command center operations.
  • Experience working within highly available enterprise environments supporting large user populations.
  • Preferred Certifications

One or more of the following certifications are highly desired

  • Citrix Certified Associate – Virtualization (CCA-V)
  • Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization (CCP-V)
  • AWS Sys Ops Administrator
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner
  • Microsoft Windows Server Certification
  • Security+ or equivalent Do D 8140 qualifying certification
  • Physical and Environmental Conditions
  • Work will be performed onsite in Norfolk, Virginia.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working in an office environment.
  • May require occasional after-hours support and participation in an on-call rotation.
