Athena Sports Group is seeking a highly motivated and organised Junior Marketing Executive to join its Marketing & Communications & Events team. This exciting role will support marketing, communications & events activity across the Emirates GBR SailGP Team, Athena Pathway Programme (Britain’s Women’s & Youth America’s Cup Teams), and Athena Racing (the British America’s Cup Team). The successful candidate will play a key role in helping to drive visibility, awareness, and audience engagement across multiple platforms and stakeholder groups. REPORTS TO Head of Communications & Content

ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Marketing Executive to support the Marketing and Communications function across a range of exciting projects and initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a creative and organised individual to gain hands‑on experience in marketing, communications, community engagement, and sustainability‑focused programmes within a fast‑paced sports environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting content creation, social media management, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and community activation projects while helping to promote the organisation’s purpose‑driven agenda and sustainability initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Marketing & Communications Support
    • Support the Marketing and Communications team in the planning and delivery of marketing campaigns and communications activities.
    • Draft, edit, and proofread communications materials, including press releases, publications, website content, newsletters, and social media posts.
    • Assist in maintaining and updating media databases, contact lists, and stakeholder records.
    • Prepare presentations, reports, and marketing materials for internal and external audiences.
    • Support the production of monthly marketing and analytics reports using data provided by external agencies and internal platforms.
    • Support the events and hospitality team in delivery of high quality events for our commercial partners.
  • Social Media & Digital Marketing
    • Administer and update social media channels, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with brand guidelines.
    • Monitor social media activity and support community engagement efforts.
    • Assist in content scheduling, publishing, and performance tracking.
    • Support digital marketing initiatives and campaign execution across multiple platforms.
    • Uploading content assets to digital platform for use by media and partners.
  • Community Engagement & Sustainability
    • Under guidance, lead a community engagement project in Portsmouth, building relationships with local businesses and strengthening connections with Athena Sports Group teams.
    • Support the delivery of sustainability and purpose‑led initiatives across the organisation.
    • Work closely with the 1851 Trust to coordinate and promote charitable, educational, and community‑focused activities.
    • Assist with stakeholder engagement activities that support the organisation’s social impact objectives.
  • Administration & Coordination
    • Maintain calendars, appointments, and meeting schedules as required.
    • Collect, organise, and maintain accurate marketing and stakeholder data.
    • Support the Clothing Coordinator to with team clothing allocation and inventory administration.
    • Provide general administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the Marketing and Communications department.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Essential
    • Degree Level or employment experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
    • Strong research, proofreading, and editing skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Understanding of social media platforms and digital communication channels.
    • Positive, proactive, and solutions‑focused attitude.
  • Desirable
    • Previous experience in a marketing, communications, public relations, or community engagement role.
    • Understanding of media relations and digital marketing strategies.
    • Experience using social media management, analytics, or content management tools.
    • Knowledge of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, or purpose‑led initiatives.
