Athena Productions is seeking an experienced and talented UK based Senior Concept Artist to join our growing team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Art Director to create stunning concept art across a wide range of subjects, including environments, characters, and props. You will be responsible for developing artwork from initial sketches to final, polished designs.

As a Concept Artist, you will be expected to work across multiple genres, including fantasy, sci-fi, and more, and you will contribute creatively at every stage of the process. Ideal candidates will have a strong portfolio demonstrating versatility, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to diverse artistic styles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop incredible concept art for characters, environments, and props while adhering to deadlines.
  • Design diverse and inspirational concepts in multiple styles, with a strong focus on composition, lighting, and perspective.
  • A passion for storytelling, innovation and design, to make sure that all your images delight and inspire our clients.
  • Translate abstract ideas and briefs into visually stunning, functional concepts while maintaining alignment with the project’s technical constraints.
  • Uphold a high level of professionalism, serving as a key contributor to the team’s creative culture and the studio’s artistic vision.
  • Bring a versatile set of artistic and technical skills, enabling you to confidently tackle diverse tasks, genres, and styles.
  • Possess expert knowledge of art fundamentals, such as composition, lighting, and perspective as well as visual design principles, and a deep understanding of video games.
  • Maintain a strong motivation to continuously develop your skills, adopt new tools, and refine your craft to achieve the highest quality and efficiency in your work.

Requirements

  • UK based - unfortunately we cannot provide Visa assistance at this time.
  • No formal training required, but an amazing portfolio is a must.
  • 3+ years of experience working in the Video Game industry.
  • Worked on at least one AAA video game.
  • Well-versed in using 3D packages to create concept art (e.g Blender, Unreal Engine, etc).
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced creative environment. Consistently meets project expectations, adhering to timelines and deliverables.
  • Great communication skills, and a team-player, who is approachable and friendly.
  • Reacts well to feedback and is able to promptly implement it.
  • Effective communicator, problem solver and collaborator who is able to solve problems.
  • Self-motivated and willingness to work on different and varied projects.
  • Able to represent the company's values at events.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal English.
