We are hiring a full-time Nursing Unit Secretary to join our dynamic care team at Plymouth Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Plymouth! 32 hours a week with weekly pay. As the Unit Secretary, you assist the Charge and Staff Nurse in their daily recording and charting of medical or administrative information to ensure all medical records are maintained accurately.
Education & Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, filing, typing, and organizational skills.
- Meet the clerical needs of nursing units, including organization and maintenance of medical records.
- Book appointments, x-rays, transportation, etc., as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Maintain and document in unit books, e.g., lab books, doctor's memo book, unit calendars.
- Manage medical records, replace forms, and maintain chart order.
- File and order paper supplies as needed.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of resident orders and notify the appropriate staff of delays.
- Monitor lab tracking and records.
- Conduct admission chart audits and review medical record mechanics.
- Handle resident forms such as diet slips, transfer forms, and W-10s.
- Answer calls on units, including screening and transferring as needed.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with staff.
- Patience, tact, cheerfulness, and enthusiasm, especially with difficult residents.
- Willingness to learn new methods and incorporate them into practice.
- Ability to relate information about residents' conditions.
