As a Gardener at Alex Wood House Care Home, you will be responsible for ensuring that the full extent of the grounds and gardens is a high-quality amenity for residents, their relatives and our team.
About Alex Wood House Care Home: Alex Wood House is an exceptional residential care home in Cambridge. At Alex Wood House we pride ourselves on our family-feel, attractive gardens and providing outstanding care to each of our residents. We’re based in a quiet nook in Arbury on the north eastern side of Cambridge, three miles from the city centre. Our home offers 24-hour residential care and 36 en-suite bedrooms.
About the role: Reporting to the Home Manager, the Gardener is responsible for ensuring maintenance of the garden and grounds to a high standard. We want a truly green fingered individual to take charge of our garden and grounds.
Salary: £12.71 per hour.
Shift Pattern: 20 hours per week, worked on a rota basis from Monday to Sunday.
Home Location: Fortescue Road, Cambridge, England, CB4 2JS – 3 miles from the city centre.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be solely responsible for the garden and grounds, overseeing all aspects of planning, purchasing, planting, and maintenance.
- Work with the Home Manager to plan for garden improvements, ensuring the garden flourishes under your care.
- Perform regular garden maintenance tasks, including watering, weeding, pruning, and general upkeep.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure the garden is well-watered, especially during the summer months.
Training, Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience working within a gardening environment is essential.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of care homes or working with people living with dementia is advantageous.
