Responsible for leading the Marketing & Communications strategy to effectively drive performance ticket sales and revenue via conferences, events and partnerships. Drive the venue’s profile within the community and industry through innovative marketing and communications initiatives. Implement the venue’s audience development strategy and utilise insights to constantly evaluate performance of the venue’s Marketing and Communications strategy.

The role will be responsible for developing and overseeing a multi‑channel strategy to promote Swansea Building Society Arena as an attractive venue for events, conferences, exhibitions and venue hires, ensuring targets are achieved. The role will work closely with the Regional Head of Conference and Sales, alongside the internal Conference and Events team, to drive and implement the venue’s strategy with respect to partnerships, premium seating sales, sponsorships and corporate hospitality revenue streams.

The Head of Marketing will work in close collaboration with ATG Entertainment’s central UK Marketing team and the MCE Marketing team to ensure a joined‑up, strategic and consistent approach to campaign planning, delivery and evaluation. This includes:

  • Acting as the primary venue marketing lead and key point of contact for central UK Marketing and MCE Marketing teams
  • Collaborating on the planning and delivery of major campaigns, on sales and seasonal initiatives
  • Sharing insights, performance data and audience learnings to inform continuous optimisation and best practice
  • Ensuring venue activity aligns with wider ATG brand, audience development and commercial strategies

The role will sit firmly within ATG’s wider marketing ecosystem, balancing strong local venue leadership with effective integration into central marketing structures and processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the strategy of arena Marketing and Communications campaigns to deliver ticket sales and ATG revenue to agreed budgets in conjunction with ATG central teams, producers and their agencies.
  • Work closely with the Regional Head of Conferencing and Sales to plan and execute a multi‑channel strategy to promote Swansea Building Society Arena as an attractive venue for events, conferences, exhibitions and venue hires including promotion of venue at trade shows, relevant forums and publications.
  • Support the Venue Director and Sales & Development Manager to develop and execute a robust Conference & Events strategy, maximising business and revenue across partnerships, premium seating, sponsorships, and corporate hospitality.
  • Identify and lead strong relationships with traditional media, online channels, and local influencers (commentators, celebrities, influencers, bloggers, social media, key organisations) and extend the venue’s footprint in under‑represented communities.
  • Support internal teams in developing strategies and producing marketing collateral to reach occupancy targets and drive growth in the venue’s premium lounges, general admission food and beverage outlets, and other ATG wide initiatives, such as Priority Access.
  • Support the Venue Director in raising the profile of the venue within the overall cultural landscape through events, content and partnerships, managing key relationships with local and national stakeholders.

Essential

  • Degree standard marketing qualifications or equivalent employment experience.
  • Proven experience of creating and delivering successful and innovative high‑quality marketing campaigns, including digital campaigns.
  • Considerable experience of project‑managing complex creative campaigns: generating ideas, driving process and evaluating success.
  • A proven track record of achieving high sales targets.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • An inspiring and persuasive leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain the ability to secure the trust of producers and promoters and the respect of clients for long‑term success.
  • Highly numerate and analytical in regard to sales, audience data and budget management.
  • An experienced marketing and communications practitioner with a curious disposition to try new approaches and take calculated risks.
  • An appetite for innovation.
  • An attention to detail that ensures theirs and their team’s work is always of the highest standard and representative of marketing excellence.
  • A team player, working collaboratively and professionally with all ATG departments / colleagues and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Degree standard management qualifications or equivalent employment experience.
  • Additional marketing management/digital marketing qualifications.
  • Experience of marketing in a theatre or arts organisation.
  • Previous experience of leading and motivating a team.
  • In‑depth knowledge of budget setting and daily financial management.
  • Experience of asset production packages such as Canva, Adobe suite, video editing software.
  • Experience in using scheduling software packages (such as Sprout), campaign management platforms (such as Monday), and business intelligence tools (such as Power BI).
  • Willingness to work out of office hours and travel, as required.
  • Good knowledge of promoter and producer landscape locally and nationally.
  • Good knowledge of live entertainment artists and acts.
  • Welsh writing and/or speaking skills.
