As a Stage Door Receptionist, you will be a key member of the Back of House team, reporting to the Stage Door Supervisor. This is a casual role, with shifts assigned based on the needs of the business, varying between morning, afternoon, or evenings, as and when required, to support productions and events. Stage Door provides the primary security presence for the theatre which involves monitoring CCTV, confident radio communication, and preventing unauthorised persons from entering the venue. Stage Door is also the first point of contact for all visitors. This means ensuring that your interaction with visiting companies and contractors is always efficient and professional. Alongside this, Stage Door Receptionists will also be the main source of communication between multiple departments within the venue, making sure that all messages and information are passed on in an accurate and timely manner. Amongst various other tasks, some of your daily jobs may include operating the fire panel, taking calls, accepting deliveries, and the opening and closing of the venue. Please note, this role may involve working with children or vulnerable people.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a warm welcome and efficient reception to all visitors, crews and companies who attend the venue.
- Maintain the security of the building by issuing relevant passes and keeping an accurate record of all visiting company, contractors and staff that enter the building.
- Monitor all security aspects of Stage Door, including allocation of keys, operation of the fire panel, monitoring CCTV and the use of all fire exits.
- Use of site radios and public address system to maintain effective communication.
- Make sure all visitors are provided with the necessary safety information when arriving on site.
- Keep the daily information board at Stage Door up to date.
- Ensure all visitors are correctly signed in and collected by a member of staff or are directed clearly to their relevant place of work or dressing room.
- Process telephone calls in a polite and professional manner, including passing on accurate messages or transferring the call if appropriate.
- Ensure all parcels and deliveries are received and distributed to the relevant department or visiting company.
- Record any accidents, near misses, incidents and alarm panel activations that happen on site on the appropriate systems.
- Keep internal and external areas of Stage Door clean and tidy and free of obstruction.
- Be responsible for opening and closing the venue at times appropriate to the needs of the business.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures to minimise the risk of injuries and accidents.
- Receive, log and store all lost property and contact customers to arrange collection of any lost items.
- Receive and respond to any producer or customer query as appropriate.
- Attend any appropriate training courses which may include First Aid or Fire Marshall training.
