The School Caretaker is responsible for ensuring the school premises, grounds, buildings and facilities are safe, secure, clean, well maintained and fit for purpose. Key Responsibilities
- Open and close the school premises safely and securely, as required.
- Carry out daily checks of the school buildings, grounds, equipment and facilities.
- Ensure the school site is maintained to a high standard and is safe for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Undertake general maintenance, repairs and minor DIY tasks, including basic plumbing, joinery, decorating and other practical work within the post holder's competence.
- Report larger repairs, faults or maintenance issues to the appropriate person and arrange or assist with contractors where required.
- Monitor heating, lighting, water systems, alarms and other essential building services and report faults promptly.
- Carry out routine health and safety checks and ensure hazards are identified, reported and dealt with appropriately.
