Atelier001 is hiring a senior product developer/engineer to join its team in London. Atelier001 designs, produces and sells high end lighting and objects. Our work bridges traditional techniques and contemporary design, creating objects that are elegant and enduring. We collaborate closely with heritage manufacturers to ensure every piece meets our exacting standards, combining creativity with precision and quality.

We are seeking a senior product developer to join our team in-house at our Notting Hill studio. This is a non-creative, facilitative role focused on optimising new and existing products for manufacturability, cost and production efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, lighting experience, and the ability to translate design intent into production-ready solutions without compromising quality or artisanship. This is an in‑house role only – we do not offer hybrid or remote working. Occasional visits to London-based factories will be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimise new lighting designs for manufacturability and cost
  • Refine existing products and lighting ranges
  • Lead value engineering initiatives
  • Create and update SolidWorks models and assemblies
  • Produce production drawings and BOMs
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation
  • Review prototypes and samples
  • Identify risks and improvement opportunities
  • Liaise with factories and suppliers
  • Resolve manufacturing and quality issues
  • Ensure consistency in materials, finishes, and processes
  • Support cost reduction and process efficiency

  • Five plus years in product development/industrialisation, lighting experience required
  • Advanced SolidWorks proficiency; Rhino desirable
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Knowledge of lighting products, components and standards
  • Proven experience in value engineering
  • High technical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experienced in working with international manufacturers
