About your role

Atelier Ten is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer . We’re looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You’ll need to balance multiple deadlines, work well independently, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the team.

Reporting to an Associate Director, you’ll lead and manage a portfolio of projects or contribute specialist expertise to support other teams. You’ll ensure high-quality, timely project delivery in line with industry benchmarks and internal standards, serving as a key liaison between Atelier Ten and our clients and collaborators.

You’ll also mentor and coordinate junior staff, providing clear frameworks, setting standards, and ensuring cohesive delivery across the team.

  • Committed to the development of high-quality, high-performance and sustainable buildings via the appropriate technical standards, costs and programme
  • Deliver technical solutions in accordance with client brief
  • Support and nurture junior/graduate engineers
  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of other disciplines
  • Liaise with client, architect and other members of the design team with clarity and confidence
  • Organise junior staff and CAD staff to achieve engineered solutions within agreed time scales
  • Maintain project overview: explain the status of relevant section of a project at any time
  • Be aware of both our agreement and the contractual relationships on the project
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Appreciate and assist in the need to generate business
  • Report any feedback or issues concerning the project
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and other members of the design team

Qualifications and skills

  • Relevant professional qualifications
  • Proven track record of successfully coordinating and delivering projects within the public and private sector
  • Experience in understanding and dealing with contractual procedures
  • Solid experience in electrical design
  • Proven track record of engaging and negotiating with senior management and peers on projects
  • Proven track record of engaging with and influencing peers outside of formal management relationships
  • Proven track record of a commitment to and effective implementation of consistent standards and metrics
  • Practical knowledge of managing small project teams coupled with the understanding to select frameworks/tools that are appropriate to particular circumstances
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritise and to think strategically about the timing and way of delivering project information
  • Strong writing skills for producing written reports
  • Effective IT skills for producing material
