We are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a team that develops innovative, high‑performance, sustainable buildings. The role requires a proactive, self‑motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, balancing multiple deadlines, working independently and collaborating across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support mechanical design development through RIBA Stages 2, 3, and 4, ensuring alignment with client requirements and adherence to industry standards.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems design with electrical, plumbing, and structural disciplines to deliver fully integrated MEP solutions.
  • Manage and resolve design coordination issues by collaborating effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors.
  • Attend and lead external meetings with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure smooth communication and project delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to junior engineers and other project team members.
  • Ensure all design documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in accordance with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Support clash detection and resolution processes during design coordination phases to prevent conflicts and ensure seamless integration.
  • Adapt quickly to changing project priorities and manage workloads efficiently across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Attend site visits and meetings with clients, architects, and contractors.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership.
  • 5–7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering within building services or similar sectors.
  • Experience with Stage 3 & 4 design or equivalent detailed design phases.
  • Solid understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems.
  • Proven experience in MEP or multidisciplinary coordination, including clash detection and BIM processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and manage external stakeholder meetings.
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines with flexibility and professionalism.
  • Proficient in design software such as Revit MEP and AutoCAD, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced in using NBS for specification writing and updates.
