Atelier Lei Guo (ALG) is a London-based architecture and urbanism practice founded in 2019, working across architecture, urban design and interiors.
Our work combines sustainable, human-centred design with a rigorous, research-led approach. Through close collaboration with clients, consultants and academic partners, we develop site-specific solutions that respond to their social, economic and environmental context.
Digital design methods inform our work from concept through to delivery, alongside a focus on low-carbon materials, construction methods and the thoughtful adaptation of existing buildings.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Architect to join our London studio and lead a boutique office refurbishment, including CAT A and CAT B fit-out, from early RIBA Stage 3 through to completion.
This is a hands-on role for an architect with strong design judgement, technical expertise and proven experience delivering UK office projects. You will work closely with the practice principal, lead a small project team and coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors to deliver the project within the agreed scope and programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design development, technical coordination and project delivery from RIBA Stage 3 through to completion.
- Prepare, manage and review architectural design and technical packages.
- Act as Executive Architect, coordinating technical information and overseeing architectural compliance throughout delivery.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers to resolve design and construction interfaces.
- Manage day-to-day client communication and lead project meetings.
- Plan workloads, monitor progress and manage deliverables against the project programme.
- Guide and mentor junior team members, reviewing their work for design quality, technical accuracy and consistency.
- Coordinate building control submissions and responses, working with the wider project team to address applicable UK Building Regulations and approval requirements.
Skills and Experience
- ARB-registered architect; RIBA membership is desirable.
- A proven track record of delivering medium-scale UK office refurbishment and fit-out projects from RIBA Stage 3 through to completion, including CAT A and CAT B experience.
- Strong technical design skills, with a thorough understanding of building materials, construction detailing, specifications and package coordination.
- Strong working knowledge of current UK Building Regulations, compliance requirements and the building control approval process.
- Experience acting as Executive Architect, or demonstrable capability to undertake this role.
- Proven experience managing a small team and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Confident client-facing, communication and job-running skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Understanding of sustainable refurbishment, low-carbon materials, and construction methods.
- Revit proficiency is highly desirable but not essential. Familiarity with Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite and digital design workflows would be beneficial.
