A leading luxury yacht shipyard in the Netherlands is expanding its team and seeking two skilled Mechanical Fitters with specialist experience in aluminium yacht construction, assembly, outfitting, and repairs. Join high-end superyacht projects where precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail define every build.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll play a key hands-on role in the construction and outfitting phases of premium aluminium yachts. You'll work closely with foremen, welders, and other trades to ensure mechanical systems and structural components are fitted accurately, aligned perfectly, and meet the highest quality standards demanded by luxury yacht clients.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for aluminium yacht structures and systems.
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, positioning, and fitting mechanical components, brackets, supports, foundations, and other metal parts (primarily aluminium).
- Assembling and installing mechanical systems such as propulsion foundations, steering gear supports, pump mounts, engine beds, piping supports, handrails, ladders, and deck equipment.
- Performing precise alignment, bolting, and securing of components to ensure structural integrity and operational performance.
- Conducting fit-up checks, adjustments, and minor repairs during assembly to resolve any discrepancies.
- Collaborating with welding teams (especially for aluminium-specific processes) and supporting commissioning activities where required.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workspace while adhering to strict shipyard safety protocols and quality procedures.
- Contributing to the delivery of world-class yachts through a strong focus on craftsmanship and problem-solving.
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience (ideally 5+ years) in yacht construction, refit/outfitting, or shipbuilding — with specific expertise in aluminium vessels highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical fitting skills, including working with precision tools, measuring instruments, hand/power tools, and heavy components.
- Solid ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and tolerances.
- Experience with aluminium fabrication techniques (cutting, shaping, fitting — welding knowledge is a plus but not mandatory).
- EU work authorization / right to work in the Netherlands (or ability to obtain quickly).
- Immediate availability to travel / relocate to the Netherlands.
- Team player with excellent communication skills, a quality-first mindset, and pride in delivering flawless work.
- VCA/SCC certification or willingness to obtain it is advantageous.
- Valid driving license preferred.
