£55,000-£65,000 base salary + benefits
The Company
Our client is a provider of special purpose machinery to the FMCG industry, supplying major customers in the UK due to their reputation for producing a high-quality product. The business has been operating for over 45 years, with members of their team having been with the company for anywhere up to 20 years, and now turnover more than £3 million with plans to continue their growth trajectory over the next 5 years.
This organisation is thriving, having more than 200 live jobs going through the Workshop with further demand for future projects. The team are well-established and are therefore not only able to deliver on customer demand, but are looking to expand their headcount ready for further success.
As a result they are looking to recruit an Operations Manager with immediate effect.
The Role
The role of Operations Manager will have full ownership and responsibility for the shop floor as the Directors give large amounts of autonomy to their leadership. This role will be responsible for maintaining a smooth process, minimising errors, reducing delays in production, and ensuring the team hit deadlines. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for:
- Full oversight of a team of 26, including both fabricators and office staff, ensuring the team are motivated and monitoring their efficiency
- Managing the full production process from the moment designs are passed to the workshop through to either shipping or installation at customer locations
- Creating intelligent production plans to ensure on time delivery for projects of varying size
- Reacting and adapting to changes on the floor as required to ensure the team meet agreed customer deadlines
- Striving to ensure the team are producing a high-quality product with minimal errors
- Highlighting opportunities for upskilling and development of the team
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Operations Manager role you will need:
- Experience operating in an engineering or workshop environment, preferably within sheet metal, fabrication, or machine shop
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and upskill, as well as delegate and effectively plan for incoming projects
- The desire to be fully responsible for the day-to-day operations of the workshop
