Engineering Manager, £72,000, £6000 car allowance, 7% pension and health care, Trafford Park. ATA are currently working with one of the UKs largest food manufacturing groups, supporting them to find an experienced Engineering Manager for their site in Greater Manchester. The company has been established for over 100 years, employs over 2000 staff across the country and boasts a portfolio of manufactured goods second to none. These goods are some of the UKs most recognisable brands which have become a staple part of British homes' shopping lists. With a turnover eclipsing £1B, the business is going from strength to strength and is set to have another strong year in 2026.
The role: As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the whole engineering department, with a direct report of a maintenance manager and a 20-strong maintenance function.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise equipment uptime and reliability.
- Support capital investment planning by assessing asset condition and lifecycle.
- Manage the site's continuous improvement and root cause analysis projects.
- Coach, develop, and appraise team members to build a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Recruitment, 1-2-1’s, Appraisals, Disciplinaries, Training & Development.
- Plan and coordinate engineering projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and refurbishments.
- Monitor and control maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company standards, and legal requirements.
- Ensure all Engineers adhere to H&S Policies and Safe Working Practices.
About you: Our customer is happy to speak to engineering managers from various backgrounds; however, they would be particularly interested in talking to those who have worked in either a Food, FMCG, Beverage or process environment. What’s important is the following:
- A passion for continuous improvement, for both the site and the engineering team.
- Experience managing a maintenance function.
- Experience managing both OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
- Full right to work in the UK with no date restrictions.
- Recognised engineering qualifications.
