Contract: 3-Month Rolling Contract

Rate: £37 Per Hour Outside IR35 Ltd

Shift Pattern: 12-hour rotating days and nights. Rotating shift patterns including:

  • 2 Days / 2 Nights / 5 Off
  • 2 Days / 3 Nights / 5 Off
  • 3 Days / 3 Nights / 5 Off

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join a leading automation business supporting a highly automated FMCG distribution centre in Trafford Park, Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced warehouse environment featuring advanced automation technology, including conveyor systems, automated cranes, pallet handling equipment and warehouse control systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum system uptime through planned and reactive maintenance.

The Role

Working as part of the on-site engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and fault-finding on a range of automated equipment while ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Some shifts will require you to work independently, making this an ideal role for a self-motivated engineer who can confidently manage breakdowns and prioritise workload.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Maintenance Engineer

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and automation faults across conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automated pallet handling systems and stacker cranes.
  • Support warehouse control systems and associated automation equipment.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime and maintain production performance.
  • Work safely at height while carrying out maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site health and safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability.

What We're Looking For

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Electrically biased maintenance background within manufacturing, logistics or automated warehousing.
  • Experience working with conveyor systems, automation or material handling equipment.
  • Ability to fault-find on electrical control systems and automated machinery.
  • Comfortable working independently on shift when required.
  • Working at heights certificate or willing to get this.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a high-throughput environment.
  • Experience maintaining automated cranes or ASRS systems.
  • Knowledge of warehouse control systems (WCS) or bespoke automation software.
