Multi-Skilled Maintenance & Reliability Engineer 10-12 Month Contract

Location: Preston

Rate: £35-£36 p/h DOE (Limited Co. / Umbrella)

Hours: 40 per week – Days 7am-4pm (Mon–Fri) + Potential OT

The Role: We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site near Preston. You will carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance, while driving reliability and continuous improvement initiatives across key production assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance: Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on mechanical systems, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical production equipment.
  • Predictive & Preventive Maintenance: Introduce condition-based monitoring (vibration, thermal, lubrication analysis) and optimise PM schedules to extend equipment life.
  • Asset Reliability & Performance: Develop and deliver reliability-centred maintenance plans for key bakery equipment including mixers, dividers, ovens, coolers, conveyors, and packaging lines.
  • Root cause analysis and reliability improvements.
  • Data & CMMS Analysis: Monitor downtime data, OEE performance, and maintenance KPIs to identify trends and prioritise improvement projects.

80% Maintenance – 20% Reliability & Continuous Improvement

The Successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Will Have:

  • Proven multi-skilled (mechanical & electrical) experience.
  • Recognised engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
  • Skilled in RCM, FMEA, and root cause problem solving to drive long-term fixes.
  • Background in manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments.
