The Company:

Our client is a leading UK manufacturer of CNC-machined and fabricated components, serving the defence, nuclear, and power generation sectors, they\’ve established a reputation for precision engineering, quality documentation, and outstanding customer service.

As a trusted supplier to the likes of Rolls-Royce, they play a key role in projects such as nuclear submarine platforms and civil nuclear reactors.

The business continues to grow in the UK defence space, as such they\’re now seeking a Project Engineer with a fabrication background to join their close-knit, technically focused team.

The Role:

As a Project Engineer, you\’ll lead the full lifecycle of technically complex manufacturing projects, from customer interface through to route creation, material definition, supplier liaison, and delivery oversight.

You\’ll be the customer\’s primary technical contact, ensuring all work is delivered right first time, on time, and within budget.

This isn\’t a design role, instead, it\’s about applying practical engineering knowledge to manage the delivery of bespoke, fabricated components in a regulated environment.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Conducting internal and external project reviews
  • Creating manufacturing route cards and defining materials/subcontractor needs
  • Liaising with customers through weekly meetings and delivery updates
  • Interpreting complex engineering drawings and defining fabrication methods
  • Reviewing and approving supplier documentation and certifications
  • Supporting procurement and ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives

The Candidate:

This is an excellent role for a Project Engineer looking to work on high-value, low-volume defence manufacturing projects.

You\’ll need a background in fabrication and welding, along with a clear understanding of regulated manufacturing environments (nuclear, defence, aerospace, etc.). You\’ll be proactive, detail-focused, and confident working independently on technically demanding projects.

We\’re looking for someone with:

  • HNC or higher in an engineering discipline
  • Project Engineering experience in a fabrication or machining environments
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and route card creation
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Confident customer-facing communication skills
  • Familiarity with high-integrity materials and certification standards
