The client
Our client is an independent systems integrator, specialising in driving digital transformation and integration across various highly secure industries. They design, install and maintain robust and reliable safety solutions. With a turnover of over £30 million, this is a really exciting time to join the business. Having recently purchased a company to complement their offerings, they are now looking for a Smoke Ventilation Consultant to join them. This is a fantastic opportunity to not only join a thriving business but to begin a new department and chapter for them which could eventually turn into a Senior Leadership role or higher – for the right person!
The role
This new division will specialise within the retrofitting of smoke ventilation systems across existing buildings and systems – (there are one of only a handful of companies able to do this retrospectively which gives them their edge) and for this reason they’re looking for people with explicit smoke ventilation experience.
The day to day responsibilities of the Smoke Ventilation Consultant will include:
- Competing surveys of buildings identified by sales to ascertain compliance or lack of
- Bringing notes and photos back to put together a proposal & quote for the client of what would be needed to bring up to compliance
- Putting this into an official report
- Creating layout drawings in 2D
- Sending over to potential client
- Visiting site to oversee installation and confirm smoke ventilation systems are being fitted correctly
- Filling out general templates for projects going through
Projects will include: Dampers, ducting and fans. This role will involve Nationwide travel up to 2/3 days per week with 50/50% onsite vs desk work – (each survey will be a full day).
The candidate
Although this Smoke Ventilation Consultant role is not sales, an interest or desire to be client facing is crucial. Our client do not care what kind of background you’re from, whether installation/commissioning/surveying/design/maintenance – the most important part of this role is smoke ventilation experience.
Other attributes that are required for this role include:
- Significant experience and understanding of Smoke Ventilation systems
- Understanding and previous experience working with regulations; BS 7346, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS EN 12101, BS ISO 21927
- Confident
- Good communicator
- Approachable
- Self-motivated
- Accountable for own work due to heavy regulations
The package
In return, our client is offering the successful Smoke Ventilation Consultant a salary of up to £55k (though they will be very flexible for the right candidate), a bonus paid quarterly (up to 4.5% of basic salary), hybrid working, flexible hours, 25 days holiday + stats (increasing to 27 days after 2 years + birthday).
