I am currently recruiting on behalf of a key client-based Teesside who are a globally recognised engineering and manufacturing business operating across several high-profile industries including defence, marine & offshore. Due to a new project win, they are looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers & Draughtsman to join their team on an interim basis for an initial 3–6-month contract.

For this position, you will be required to conduct the following daily duties:

  • 3D modelling in SolidWorks - designing enclosure modifications, bespoke brackets, manifolds and internal component layouts
  • Supporting, updating and maintaining existing 3D models and engineering drawings
  • Finalising and issuing manufacturing drawings to the required standard
  • Defining and applying appropriate tolerances across all designed components
  • Attending weekly cross-functional project meetings with project managers and technical leads
  • Daily catchups with the mechanical team lead to review workload and progress

The successful contractor will need to have the following attributes:

  • Solid, hands-on SolidWorks experience used in a real working environment
  • Familiarity with assemblies and a mix of commercial off-the-shelf and bespoke parts
  • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Background in mechanical design or draughting - degree qualified ideally, though strong experience will be considered
  • PDM experience desirable but not essential - full training provided
