A niche and specialist design and manufacturing business specialising within the teaching and research industries, providing in-house design, testing and manufacture of bespoke machines for education facilities worldwide. Machines can include materials testing equipment, aerodynamics, power testing, alternative energy and various force testing equipment.
Due to continued success and growth within this niche industry, they are looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join their skilled team.
The Role
The role of Mechanical Test Engineer will be to work in tandem with the Assembly team and provide end of the line testing on products to ensure they are fit and ready for delivery to client sites. Day to day responsibilities will include:
- All mechanical testing
- Leak checking and inspection of welded tanks
- Dimensional checks – is it the right size
- Compression testing
- Following company guidelines tests processes
- Producing reports on Excel by plotting graphs
- Printing off test specifications
- Setting up/building/assembling machines
- Calibrating machinery
- Checking results are within acceptable tolerances
- Stripping back down to have it delivered to end client site
Tests can take up to 3 days and the successful Mechanical Test Engineer can be juggling up to 5 tests at any one time.
The Person
To be successful in the role of Mechanical Test Engineer you will:
- Have a relevant mechanical qualification OR relevant industry experience
- Previous experience within a Test Engineer position
- Be a hands-on, mechanically minded and technically curious person
- Have problem-solving skills
- Be a team player and able to work to strict deadlines
