The Company
Our client is a market leading UK manufacturer of bespoke sheet metal equipment into sectors such as data centres and hospitals. Operating since the 1970s, they are one of the largest privately owned businesses in their field, employing over 300 staff, with a design team of 10 and turn over Β£100 million a year. They design, manufacture and install in-house across multiple UK sites. The business has seen sustained growth and an extremely busy order book. As a result, they are looking to expand their engineering team and are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team.
The Role
This is a highly CAD focused Mechanical Design Engineer role, working closely with design and production teams to deliver bespoke fabricated assemblies. You will receive initial layout information and be responsible for developing detailed manufacturing designs for sheet-metal enclosures and assemblies used within electrical systems.
- Producing detailed 2D AutoCAD manufacturing drawings.
- Designing sheet metal cabinets, enclosures, and general assemblies.
- Liaising with production and shopfloor teams to resolve manufacturing queries.
- Attending design and project meetings.
- Supporting procurement.
This role is primarily AutoCAD 2D focused, with occasional 3D work on Autodesk Inventor.
Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Mechanical Design Engineer role, you will need:
- Proven experience using AutoCAD (essential)
- Background in engineering design for manufacture
- Experience designing sheet metal fabricated assemblies
- A team-focused mindset with good communication skills
- Industry experience is not essential. Full on the job training will be provided.
