We're working with a long-established building services consultancy delivering mechanical and electrical design into education, healthcare, commercial and leisure projects. They work with major names and high-profile sites, and due to strong project demand going into 2026, the electrical team is expanding.
The business has been operating for decades, is privately owned, and has a close-knit team of experienced M&E engineers. The business has a solid pipeline, stable workload, and a friendly, professional office environment.
The Role
A hands-on electrical design role producing building services designs for a wide range of projects dealing with clients in the Medical, Commercial and Educational industries.
Your Responsibilities:
- Electrical building services design for power, lighting, emergency lighting and fire alarms.
- Electrical calculations: cable sizing, volt drop, short circuit, lighting calculations.
- Producing drawings, specification and cost estimates.
- Coordinating closely with the mechanical design team on layout.
- Liaising directly with clients and subcontractors.
- Attending sites, design meetings and client meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with BS codes and relevant building services standards.
- Supporting projects from concept through to handover.
The Candidate:
- 3–5 years' experience in electrical building services design.
- Strong understanding of BS codes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience with calculation tools like: Amtech, Dialux or similar.
- Ability to independently produce electrical designs and calculations.
- Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills.
- Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship).
Nice to Have:
- Revit MEP or MagiCAD experience.
- A supporting engineering qualification.
- IET or CIBSE membership.
- Awareness of Part L, BREEAM or general sustainability requirements.
