Our client is a specialist engineering business designing and installing bespoke bulk materials handling solutions for complex industrial environments. Due to continued project wins and increased workload across the UK, they are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead structural design from concept through to detailed design on materials handling projects
- Carry out structural analysis using STAAD Pro and produce clear, concise reports from findings
- Design bolted connections and complete connection design calculations
- Produce hand calculations (TEDs/hand calcs) alongside software analysis
- Work closely with the mechanical design team to coordinate scope and resolve technical queries
- Develop outline and scheme designs, including foundation load calculations for civil works
- Produce and review drawings using AutoCAD; support Tekla detailers with queries
- Proven experience in structural engineering within a materials handling or heavy industrial environment
- Strong knowledge and application of Eurocodes; experience working to international codes advantageous
- Confident using STAAD Pro for structural analysis (essential)
- Experience with access towers, gantries, portal frames, walkways, trestles, pipe bridges and pipe supports
- Comfortable working across both scheme design and detailed design stages
- Strong communication skills - regular liaison with project engineers, mechanical teams and detailers
- AutoCAD proficiency; Tekla and FEA experience beneficial
