Lead and Grow a National Sales Team

Our client is a globally recognised engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of innovative materials handling and wastewater treatment solutions. With decades of experience, the company delivers specialist equipment and systems for screening, materials handling, grit management, conveying and dewatering applications across municipal and industrial markets worldwide. Renowned for technical excellence, product innovation and customer service, the business continues to invest heavily in its people, products and future growth.

As part of its continued expansion, the business is seeking an ambitious National Sales Manager to lead, develop and grow its UK sales operation.

The Opportunity

This is a strategic leadership position with responsibility for managing a team of Area Sales Managers across the UK while driving commercial growth and expanding market share. You will be tasked with creating a high-performance sales culture, developing future talent and building a stronger national sales presence within the water, wastewater and industrial sectors. This role offers genuine career progression, with the opportunity to play a key role in the future growth of the business and progress into a senior commercial leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Area Sales Managers across the UK.
  • Recruit, coach and grow the sales team in line with business expansion plans.
  • Develop and execute the national sales strategy to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Drive new business acquisition while strengthening existing customer relationships.
  • Support the sales team in securing major projects and framework agreements.
  • Monitor individual and team performance through KPIs, forecasting and sales reporting.
  • Identify new market opportunities and routes to market.
  • Work closely with engineering, project delivery and service teams to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Manage key strategic accounts and support high-value commercial negotiations.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and exhibitions.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a proven sales leader with a track record of managing and developing successful sales teams within a technical or engineering-led environment. You will have:

  • Previous experience as a National Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Head of Sales or similar leadership role.
  • Experience managing and developing external sales teams.
  • A successful background within engineering, wastewater, water treatment, industrial equipment, manufacturing or process industries.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with experience growing sales teams.
  • A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach.
  • Experience delivering sales growth through both new business and account development.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
