Our client is an established manufacturer of professional lighting systems, supplying high-performance solutions into some of the UK's most demanding environments including highways, rail networks, commercial developments, public spaces and industrial facilities. As Lighting Controls Engineer, you will become the technical expert for the company's lighting controls portfolio, supporting a range of intelligent lighting systems including DALI, D4i, wireless controls and Central Management Systems (CMS). Working closely with Engineering, Product Development and Sales teams, you will provide technical guidance throughout the customer journey, from project conception and system design through to commissioning and aftersales support. This position offers excellent exposure to emerging smart lighting technologies and provides a clear route into senior technical or product management positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the internal technical specialist for lighting controls products and systems.
  • Support customers and sales teams with technical enquiries and controls solutions.
  • Evaluate, test and validate lighting controls compatibility across product ranges.
  • Work with leading third-party controls manufacturers and technology partners.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the lighting controls roadmap.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide aftersales support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, installation guides and testing procedures.
  • Support production teams with controls integration and product implementation.
  • Participate in customer meetings and technical presentations.
  • Manage controls-related projects from concept through to successful delivery.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Electrical, Electronic or Controls Engineering background.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new technologies.

Desirable

  • Experience with DALI lighting controls.
  • Knowledge of D4i protocols.
  • Wireless lighting controls experience.
  • Central Management Systems (CMS) experience.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) exposure.
  • Lighting industry experience.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Candidates from Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, BMS Engineering, Technical Support Engineering, Electrical Design Engineering or Smart Building Technology backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
