The Company

Our client is a rapidly growing subcontract engineering business specialising in laser cutting, sheet metal fabrication, folding, finishing, and assembly services. Operating from a modern 87,000 sq. ft facility in Leicester, they support customers across a wide range of industries, from large Tier 1 manufacturers through to bespoke one-off projects. With ambitious growth plans to increase turnover from £11.5 million to £20 million by 2030, the business has recently invested heavily in new systems and infrastructure, including a £150k ERP system to improve efficiency and customer delivery performance. Known for their fast turnaround times and strong customer service, they have built an excellent reputation within the sheet metal and fabrication sector and continue to win significant new business year on year.

The Role

As a Sales Account Manager, you will join a growing sales team focused on managing and developing customer relationships across the UK. This is a relationship-led role combining account management with new business development, although all leads are inbound — there is no cold calling requirement. You’ll work closely with estimating, production, and manufacturing teams to guide projects from quotation through to delivery, helping customers find the right engineering solution for their requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing existing customer accounts
  • Converting inbound enquiries into profitable business opportunities
  • Building strong long-term customer relationships to encourage repeat business
  • Working closely with estimating and manufacturing teams throughout projects
  • Visiting customer sites across the UK when required
  • Attending trade shows and networking events
  • Supporting customers with technical and commercial queries
  • Using CRM and ERP systems to manage projects and customer information

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous sales or account management experience within engineering or manufacturing
  • Background within one of the following sectors:
    • Sheet metal fabrication
    • Laser cutting
    • Folding / press brake services
    • Powder coating
    • CNC machining services
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercially driven with a proactive mindset
  • Ability to understand engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
