Location - Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary - Β£55 – 57k + up to 10% annual bonus subject to performance

Hours of work – Monday to Thursday 8-5pm & every Friday 4pm finish

Other benefits – 5% employer pension + x4 death in service + private health care + 35 days annual leave

The client - Market leader in Manufacturing through Process engineering, multi-million-pound turnover business, with significant multi-million-pound CAPEX and related automation investment.

The Role of the Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer:

Due to significant investment and automation activities on a large, world-class manufacturing site, my client is in search of a PLC-biased Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer to be based at the Leeds site as the first line automation support. The electrical and controls automation engineer will be utilising their expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and maintenance to optimize manufacturing processes, all whilst being hands-on to provide emergency maintenance support as and when required. You will lead process improvements by collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions and enhance plant performance.

Key Responsibilities of Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer:

  • Work with Programmable systems including HMI, SCADA, Servo Drives, IX developer
  • Develop and implement projects to drive improvement in manufacturing availability
  • New installations, including the programming of software
  • Work with management team to contribute to key improvement projects
  • Proactive in detecting, reporting, diagnosing and predicting potential or existing software and electronic issues on all equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machine faults to reduce downtime

Requirements & Qualifications – Electrical Controls Engineer:

  • Hold a NVQ Level 3 or Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong background in PLC systems and HMI software
  • Automation/controls apprentice with several years post qualification within an FMCG environment
  • Ideally comes from a food/process background would be advantageous
  • Experience in fault finding on industrial communication networks
  • Experience with design and modifications of systems
  • Ability to implement programmes and modify on a range of PLC/SCADA systems
