We are supporting a multinational special purpose machinery manufacturer with a substantial presence in West Yorkshire. Established over 20 years ago, the business is trusted by major global manufacturers to provide specialised machinery. With a strong focus on investing in its people, this business supports the next generation of engineers through apprenticeships, ongoing training and multi-skilling opportunities. They are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with immediate effect.

The role of Mechanical Design Engineer will join a team with a mixture of tenured designers and upcoming apprentices. Overseeing the full design lifecycle, this role will become a specialist and lead within this team for special purpose machinery. The Mechanical Design Engineer will:

  • Work on complex machinery projects with 1 year lead time
  • Support with bids and specifications from a technical perspective
  • Full scope design of machines, tooling, and systems integration
  • Oversee designs through manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and service
  • Involvement in design reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, and risk assessments

To be successful in your application for this Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need:

  • Demonstratable and tenured experience designing machinery
  • Experience using any 3D CAD platform
  • An interest in mentoring and developing apprentices
  • Passion for engineering and desire to upskill/multi-skill
