We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in control panel manufacturing to oversee day-to-day workshop operations and successfully manage multiple live projects simultaneously. This is an opportunity to join a close-knit and expanding engineering business led by a hands-on Managing Director with a strong technical background.

The company has built a strong reputation through repeat business, referrals, and long-term client relationships, delivering high-quality projects across data centres, hospitals, commercial buildings, and wider infrastructure sectors. This is a hands-on and fast-paced role where you will take ownership of production activities across assembly, wiring, testing, planning, and workflow management. You will be responsible for ensuring all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

You will work closely with the Managing Director, Operations Manager, and Production team to improve delivery performance, enhance workshop efficiency, and regain control of ongoing projects, ensuring all work is prioritised and completed to required standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Production Manager:

  • Lead and coordinate daily production activities for control panel assembly, wiring, and testing
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery deadlines are achieved
  • Plan and allocate workloads across the workshop team
  • Monitor production workflow and provide regular project updates to senior management
  • Support engineers and wiremen during busy production periods
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Liaise with procurement, testing, quality, and operations teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures and company quality standards
  • Manage workshop organisation, cleanliness, and efficient use of workspace
  • Oversee stock control and material availability for scheduled projects
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production technical issues
  • Work closely with the team to ensure finished panels are tested and delivered on schedule

Skills & Experience Required of the Production Manager:

  • Previous experience in control panel manufacturing
  • Production management or workshop supervision experience
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing multiple live projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with production planning and workflow management tools
  • Electrical qualification is required
  • Experience with QC, inspection, and testing of control panels would be advantageous
