Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 (DOE)

The Company:
Our client is a systems integrator specializing in control systems for heavy equipment. They design bespoke solutions that integrate electrical panels, hardware PLCs, and mechanical components, providing innovative systems to industries like power generation, oil and gas, and waste incineration.

With a team of around 30 and an annual turnover of £6 million, this growing company combines a strong reputation with a collaborative and supportive environment, offering exciting opportunities for talented engineers.

The Role:
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you\’ll take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning. Working within a close-knit engineering team, you\’ll be designing, testing, and supporting control systems tailored to individual client needs.

  • Your key responsibilities will include:
    Creating wiring diagrams, schematics, and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Performing cable sizing and circuit breaker calculations
  • Producing documentation such as I/O schedules, test specs, and Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
  • Selecting and specifying instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, and pressure sensors
  • Overseeing testing and occasionally commissioning systems on-site (UK, Europe, Offshore – optional)
  • Collaborating with project managers and other engineers to ensure high-quality, integrated solutions

What We\’re Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you\’ll need:

  • A background in Electrical Design Engineering, ideally with control panels or rotating machinery
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, I/O systems, and field instrumentation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (or similar)
  • Ability to calculate wiring sizes and select suitable protection
  • A hands-on, curious, and personable approach
  • Willingness to be office-based initially, with hybrid flexibility after six months
