The Role
My client is looking for an experienced Engineering Planner to join the team and play a key role in driving maintenance performance, reliability, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership position, requiring strong planning capability, system expertise, and excellent communication skills. The role is approximately 20% hands-on, primarily supporting planned maintenance (PMs), with 80% office-based responsibilities, including planning, coordination, and direct leadership of maintenance technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities using a CMMS, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Provide direct leadership to maintenance technicians.
- Execute and embed Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to reduce machine downtime and drive year-on-year improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Manage and optimise preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to improve asset reliability
- Drive maintenance compliance across safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Lead effective root cause analysis, ensuring issues are resolved permanently rather than repeatedly
- Work closely with production, engineering, and operations teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in an engineering planning or maintenance leadership role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong CMMS experience, with the ability to plan, schedule, and manage maintenance activities effectively
- Experience using SAP (essential), with the ability to work independently and be fully self-sufficient
- Solid understanding of TPM, OEE, and preventive maintenance best practices
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across engineering and production teams
- A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach
