Initial 12 Months contract

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to support the 3D development on a 12-month contract basis. This role focuses on converting existing 2D AutoCAD drawings into 3D SolidWorks models and contributing to the development of new mechanical products.

2D to 3D Conversion & Product Development

You will collaborate with the internal design team, suppliers, and occasionally customers to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with welding and assembly parameters. They are not a high-pressure organisation, but we value professionalism and timely delivery.

The role of a CAD Design Engineer will involve the following:

  • Convert 2D AutoCAD drawings into 3D SolidWorks models with a focus on design for manufacture & assembly.
  • Support the design and development of new components and assemblies.
  • Work with current welding parameters and ensure compliance with DFM/DFMA principles.
  • Liaise with design teams, suppliers, and sometimes customers.
  • See projects through from design to manufacture and assembly.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on progress, challenges, and solutions to senior engineers.

The CAD Design Engineer will need to have the following experience:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in an engineering product design environment.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks - capable of producing detailed components and assemblies.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Commutable to Burton upon Trent.
