The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Electrical, Controls or Maintenance Engineer looking for a varied role combining hands-on engineering with PLC and electrical design work?
We are working with a specialist engineering business operating within the parcel automation and materials handling sector. The company designs, supports and maintains advanced camera, scanning and dimensioning systems used across automated conveyor and sortation environments.
This is a varied position offering approximately a 50/50 split between hands-on service engineering and PLC/electrical modification work.
The Role
As a Service & Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and upgrading automated camera and conveyor systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out electro-mechanical maintenance and fault finding
Working on automated conveyor and sortation equipment
Diagnosing and repairing motors, bearings, belts and diverters
Stripping down and rebuilding camera and scanning systems
Electrical fault finding on 240V and 415V systems
Wiring and installing electrical components
Supporting system upgrades and modifications
Making amendments to Siemens S7 PLC programmes
Adding and modifying PLC inputs and outputs
Making electrical drawing modifications using AutoCAD
Updating electrical panel layouts and adding components to drawings
Providing remote technical support to customer systems
Attending customer sites when required
The role will involve approximately 3 days per week in the office, with the remaining time spent visiting customer sites. xgikmsk
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A recognised engineering qualification
Strong experience within an electrical, controls, automation or maintenance environment
Experience fault finding electrical and electro-mechanical systems
Knowledge of PLC systems, ideally Siemens S7
The ability to understand and modify electrical drawings
Experience with AutoCAD would be advantageous
A good understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A willingness to travel to customer sites when required
