Our client is a modern British success story. Founded just 10 years ago by two friends, the business has grown into a multi-million-pound manufacturer employing over 600 people at a state-of-the-art automated facility located between Nottingham and Sheffield.

Continued investment in automation, engineering and operational excellence has created an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to join the business and lead a team of engineers within a highly automated production environment.

This role offers the perfect balance of leadership and hands‑on engineering, allowing you to develop your management career while remaining technically involved.

The Role

As Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of four Maintenance Engineers while providing technical support across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating a team of Maintenance Engineers on shift
  • Allocating reactive and planned maintenance activities
  • Supporting engineers with technical fault finding and problem-solving
  • Electrical and mechanical maintenance across automated production equipment
  • Fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery
  • Driving engineering standards and shift performance
  • Supporting continuous improvement and automation projects
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently

You’ll be working on a variety of automated equipment including:

  • Conveyor systems
  • Packaging machinery
  • Industrial ovens
  • Robotic palletisers
  • Automated production equipment
  • Material handling systems

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or managing Maintenance Engineers
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault‑finding skills
  • Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, food, packaging, logistics or automated production environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced production environment
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving
