Design Bespoke Hydraulic Systems for Industry-Leading Projects

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected engineering organisation that specialises in the design, manufacture and integration of bespoke fluid power solutions for customers across a diverse range of industrial sectors. With a long-established reputation for engineering excellence, the business delivers innovative hydraulic and pneumatic systems that support critical operations throughout manufacturing, automation, utilities, process industries and heavy engineering environments.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Hydraulic Design Engineer to join their engineering team in a fully remote capacity.

This role offers the chance to take ownership of technically demanding projects, working from initial concept through to manufacture and project delivery, while collaborating with experienced engineers and project teams across the UK.

The Opportunity

As a Hydraulic Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing bespoke hydraulic solutions tailored to customer requirements. You'll play a key role in translating concepts into practical, robust engineering designs that can be manufactured and delivered effectively.

This position would suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and designing innovative hydraulic systems for real-world industrial applications.

Projects will vary in size and complexity, providing plenty of technical variety and the opportunity to work on unique engineering solutions rather than repetitive product design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design bespoke hydraulic systems and fluid power solutions for industrial applications
  • Develop hydraulic power units, manifolds, control systems and associated equipment
  • Produce 3D CAD models, assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Generate bills of materials and technical specifications
  • Perform engineering calculations relating to hydraulic flow, pressure, power and component selection
  • Specify hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, accumulators and filtration equipment
  • Provide technical support throughout manufacturing, testing and commissioning phases
  • Liaise with suppliers, production teams and project managers to ensure successful project delivery
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and best practice

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong understanding of hydraulic system design and fluid power principles.

You will ideally possess:

  • Proven experience designing hydraulic systems, hydraulic power packs, fluid power equipment or bespoke engineered solutions
  • Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks or a comparable package
  • Experience producing manufacturing drawings, engineering documentation and bills of materials
  • Sound knowledge of hydraulic components including pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, manifolds and filtration systems
  • Ability to carry out engineering calculations and component sizing activities
  • Experience working within manufacturing, industrial engineering, automation, special purpose machinery or fluid power sectors
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and commercially focused approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a remote engineering team

What's on Offer?

  • Fully remote working
  • Competitive salary of £55,000 - £65,000
  • Pension scheme
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Long-term career progression within a growing engineering business
  • Exposure to a broad range of bespoke engineering projects
  • Opportunity to work with industry-leading customers across multiple sectors
  • A collaborative and supportive engineering culture focused on innovation and technical excellence

ATA is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation
