I am looking for a skilled Switchgear Builder / Panel Wirer to join our manufacturing team who will be responsible for building, wiring, and testing low and medium voltage switchgear systems used in critical infrastructure projects across the UK.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Build switchgear panels from engineering drawings and schematics
- Install components such as circuit breakers, relays, contactors, and busbars
- Carry out panel wiring to a high standard using wiring diagrams
- Terminate, crimp, and label cables neatly and accurately
- Perform basic electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, etc.)
- Work closely with engineers and inspectors to resolve build issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
Qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience in panel wiring, switchgear building within an industrial environment
- Understanding schematics and layout drawings
- Competent with hand tools and electrical testing equipment
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) preferred
- Hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members
