We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a growing engineering team within a leading UK food manufacturing business. This is a mechanically biased maintenance role, responsible for keeping modern automated production equipment running safely and efficiently. You will be primarily focused on mechanical maintenance, breakdown response and preventative maintenance, with electrical knowledge required to support fault finding. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for long-term stability, excellent earning potential, training and genuine career progression.
The Role
- Responding to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
- Maintaining conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, pneumatics
- Replacing and repairing mechanical components
- Carrying out equipment inspections and identifying potential failures
- Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings
- Supporting electrical fault finding and basic electrical checks
- Carrying out fault finding on automated manufacturing equipment
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects
- Minimising production downtime and improving equipment reliability
- Working safely and in accordance with site procedures
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A recognised Engineering qualification
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician or similar
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience
- Experience maintaining industrial or automated production machinery
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems, including: Bearings, Gearboxes, Pumps, Conveyors, Pneumatics
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
- Good understanding of health and safety
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or automated environments is advantageous
