As a Luggage Porter / Doorman your role will involve providing a warm and welcoming experience to guests. You will be responsible for efficient and courteous welcome and departure services while ensuring the department operates in an organised manner. Your key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Providing a warm and professional welcome and farewell to all guests and visitors in a polite, friendly manner.
- Handling all inquiries and queries regarding the hotel and the surrounding area in a helpful and courteous manner.
- Having a good knowledge of the hotel's services, products, and facilities.
- Communicating all relevant issues and information during the daily handover for each shift.
- Assisting guests with their luggage requirements, such as storage or room delivery, upon arrival and departure.
- Collecting and delivering guest luggage.
- Helping guests with loading and unloading their luggage to and from taxis, coaches, and other vehicles.
- Obtaining taxis for guests and directing chauffeurs waiting for passengers to the taxi waiting area.
- Delivering parcels, incoming messages, mail, and laundry to guest rooms as needed.
- Demonstrating a good knowledge of parking regulations and restrictions around the hotel and directing guests to the nearest available public parking.
- Being aware of VIPs, corporate and regular guest arrivals, and ensuring their requirements are anticipated and met.
- Demonstrating knowledge of all local attractions and landmarks.
- Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other departments to ensure prompt and seamless resolution of any issues/queries.
- Keeping the hotel entrance, luggage room, and lobby areas tidy, clean, and well-maintained, and reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the manager on duty.
- Being able to cover night shifts and assist with other duties during holidays, absences, and potential shift coverages.
- When covering night shifts, ensuring all requests/enquiries such as room moves, light cleaning duties, replenishing amenities in the room, and deliveries are carried out as required.
- Remaining vigilant and reporting any security issues to the Manager on duty and/or Security.
- Being responsible for evacuation procedures in cases of emergency and acting as the first point of contact for guests.
- Always adhering to all company policies, procedures, and licensing laws.
- Reporting any maintenance issues/requirements in the workplace to the Manager on duty.
- Complying with statutory and legal requirements for fire and health and safety regulations.
- Undertaking any other reasonable tasks and specific projects requested by management.
- Being a hotel ambassador and ensuring that our guests consider and respect the good neighbourhood.
