Job Description

The Head of Operations UK & Ireland is responsible for ensuring efficient, standardized, and high-performing operations across all branches and operational functions. The role drives operational performance, inventory management, logistics coordination, and continuous improvement in alignment with the overall business objectives.

Location: Birmingham or Glasgow

Key Responsibilities:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in operations
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and operational processes
  • Background in scaffolding, construction or industrial services preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Financial and commercial acumen (P&L, budgeting, forecasting) and passion for operational excellence
  • Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills

Operational Leadership & Performance

  • Own and lead overall operational performance across UK & Ireland, including branch operations, logistics, and yard activities
  • Translate strategic objectives into clear operational plans and measurable KPIs
  • Implement standardized processes and best practices across yard and branch operations
  • Drive performance across productivity, service levels, cost efficiency, and asset utilization
  • Establish and drive a culture of continuous improvement across all operational functions
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, audits, and operational governance

Commercial Office & Inventory Management

  • Own execution and quality of order processing, pricing coordination, and offer management in close alignment with Sales and Finance
  • Ensure accountability for operational transactions related to inventory and yard activities, including material movements and system postings
  • Lead and oversee invoicing processes for rental and sales and alignment with operational execution
  • Own month-end closing of Operations-related transactions
  • Act as process owner for stock takes and inventory accuracy, ensuring proper coordination, execution, and reconciliation
  • Own end-to-end inventory performance, including short/mid/long-term inventory planning and availability across branches
  • Ensure material demand alignment with projects and sales pipeline
  • Drive inter-branch material balancing and logistics optimization considering cost-efficient transport and asset deployment strategies
  • Strengthen integration of commercial office activities into operations

Yard Operations & Execution

  • Ensure safe, efficient, and standardized execution of all yard operations
  • Establish clear ownership and accountability for yard performance across branches
  • Drive improvements in material handling, capacity planning, and space utilization
  • Implement best practices and operational standards to strengthen execution quality and safety

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience within scaffolding operations
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and operational processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Financial and commercial acumen, including P&L responsibility, budgeting, and forecasting, combined with a passion for operational excellence
  • Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills
