Our Wireless and Critical Infrastructure team is on the lookout for an experienced, self‑driven Technician to join our Telecommunications division, based in Christchurch.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to work on new and upcoming projects for high‑profile clients across the Power and Telecommunications industries. You’ll play a key role in installing, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting Transmission communication systems that keep critical infrastructure connected.

The role offers flexibility, with participation in a 24/7 standby roster required. You’ll also have opportunities to travel across projects, including working away from home at times (occasionally with short notice).

ABOUT YOU

You’re hands‑on, safety‑focused, and comfortable working at heights. You bring proven experience on New Zealand or Australian telecommunications or power networks and thrive in field‑based environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, enabling you to build trusted relationships and deliver high‑quality commissioning documentation.

Ideally, you’ll have experience with:

  • Low Voltage DC Power Plant installation & commissioning (including battery testing)
  • Relevant Telecommunications industry experience
  • IP networks (Nokia, Alcatel‑Lucent, Cisco highly regarded)
  • Transmission installation & commissioning (Ethernet, SDH, PDH)
  • Outside and Inside Plant cabling, testing, and fault repair
  • Protection signalling systems
  • Data cabling and tray/raceway installation
  • WiFi, VOIP & SCADA systems
  • Microsoft Excel & Word

Advantageous but not essential:

  • Electrical Registration desirable
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings
  • RF feeder and antenna installation experience
