Overview
Astute’s Power Team is working with a well-established UK standby power specialist with over 40 years’ experience, supplying, installing, hiring, and maintaining critical power systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, and CHP. We are recruiting a UPS Engineer for a field-based role covering an assigned UK region.
The UPS Engineer position comes with a salary of £36,000–£45,000, paid overtime, company vehicle, bonus scheme, and strong long-term development opportunities within a financially stable, family-run organisation.

Responsibilities
- Servicing, maintaining, and inspecting UPS systems across a wide power range (5kVA to 1MVA) to ensure reliable operation of critical power infrastructure
- Diagnosing faults and providing effective on-site repair solutions during both planned and reactive maintenance visits
- Carrying out remedial works including battery replacements, component changes, and minor to major system overhauls
- Acting as a first-response engineer for breakdowns, restoring systems to operational status in a timely and professional manner
- Supporting a mix of scheduled maintenance, corrective works, and reactive callouts, including participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota
- Completing clear and accurate service reports, documenting findings, actions taken, and recommendations
- Working closely with internal teams and customers to deliver a high standard of service and minimise system downtime
- Maintaining excellent health & safety, housekeeping, and professional standards while representing the business on customer sites
- Travelling primarily within an assigned region, with occasional wider UK travel as required
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Proven experience as a UPS Maintenance / Service Engineer
- Strong fault-finding capability on electrical power systems
- Experience working on a range of UPS manufacturers and capacities
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to live and work in the UK
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home occasionally
