Astute’s Team is partnering with a leading provider of Technical Publications to global OEMs to recruit a Technical Author for the Nuclear Sector. The Technical Author role comes with a salary of up to £50,000, private medical insurance, life assurance and various other company benefits. Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality S1000D data modules to military specifications (descriptive, procedural, operation, maintenance, IPD)
- Apply Simplified Technical English (STE) to all relevant documents
- Gather and validate engineering information through close collaboration with technical teams
- Adapt documentation for different export customers (e.g., Sweden, France)
- Submit work for internal QA and follow project review processes
- Maintain document version control and align updates with engineering changes
- Contribute to improvements in documentation workflows and standards
Professional qualifications
- Proven background as a Technical Author, ideally within engineering, defence, manufacturing, industrial equipment, or similar technical environments
- Strong working knowledge of S1000D and experience writing to military standards
- Competence with authoring tools such as Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, and Microsoft Word
- Familiarity with document management systems and version control processes
- SC clearance (or full eligibility to obtain it)
Personal skills
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A strong grasp of engineering terminology, concepts, and technical drawings
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
