Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit for a Balance of Plant (BoP) Mechanical Engineer for their Combine Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station in Rochester, Kent. The vital BoP Mechanical Engineer role comes with a basic salary of up to £83,000 + a performance related bonus + other excellent benefits. Responsibilities and duties

  • Reporting to the Lead BoP Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting with delivering effective outage strategies and management of projects.
  • Optimising the planned maintenance strategy to meet stakeholders' needs to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other departments in relation to Balance of Plant (BoP) with a focus on maximising efficiency, plant performance and safety.
  • Provide technical governance, guidance and industry best practice including compliance with PSSR and statutory inspections.

Professional qualifications

  • Ideally a Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline; however, would consider those with a HND/HNC/NVQ Level 3, etc.
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity.

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

  • The BoP Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who has prior Mechanical Engineering experience working in heavy process engineering environments such as Power Stations, Paper Mills, Top Tier COMAH sites, Refineries, Petrochemicals, etc.
  • Experience working with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully manage teams.
